It sure was something!!!

I'm all for more shows, maybe even one that I would like. ;) I haven't been to a show since the first showing of the Rocky tribute in 2008, but more shows to eat up more crowd is good in my book. I just want something more than the 'Big Screen' at the front gates. I know most folks on here go in ahead of time for S&S, but I've waited at the gates at least one time for the last three years and let me tell you, it's missing something. I remember scary clowns that would climb on the gate and taunt the crowd from the 90's, that silly torture truck that went over 'the rules' was around and would do the routine while we waited, even in 2008 the mirror people were there to keep us interested. Put in the Chucky insult attraction, or something. Hearing the monologues over and over and over is NOT entertaing.

I thought about this some more yesterday and I concluded that Universal really needs to address some more serious issues if they really want to impress and retain long-term fans.

1. Research the reputation of the entrance search and security source. This needs to be done immediately, IMO. Also, there needs to be a consensus between Universal and their gate guards BEFORE THE EVENT BEGINS. The making it up as you go crap is not only unprofessional but could be construed as prejudiced if the wrong person is slighted. The fact that they aren't being sued after this past year is very surprising to me.

2. Either cap attendance lower or offer more nights, maybe even try the much debated adults only night or teen-centered night (C'mon, one night won't hurt ANYONE). There has to be a better form of crowd control instituted. A few less patrons in the park would also help the much maligned Ops people do their jobs correctly and not be perceived as tyrannical mood-killers or bored, spoiled wannabes checking Facebook on their phones. I bet they would appreciate that as much as we would.

3. The over-indulgence of alchohol is out of control. They've made some progress with the rampant drunkeness and underaged drinking but it is still not enough. I know most (75-80%) drinkers handle themselves and their drinks just fine in a smaller setting but when you mix thousands and thousands of people (bored from standing in line!) with lots and lots of booze in a confined space problems will be inevitable. Those problems range from simple annoying personalities to violence and destruction. A drink limit is never going to fly, of course, but perhaps make another night alchohol free for those that wish to go without that particular threat. Personally, I would lay money down on this being a HUGE hit.

If they keep piling in more people without facing these issues first they're looking at major damages; to the park, the patrons, and the staff. It will definately cost Universal more cash, but it would be returned 2x, maybe even 3x over. Showing that they care about their patrons and not simply the patrons' wallets would go a long way to getting them an even higher rating in fans' and patrons' hearts.

Universal has been impressing upon us that this will be a farewell

know Universal has been impressing upon us that this will be a farewell year for many icons and traditions, and I really do hope that they stick to their guns on it. I'm all for starting fresh and wouldn't mind if Jack, the Caretaker, the Usher, the Storyteller, and the Director were put into storage for a good while. Even under-utilized icons like Mary, Eddie, Cindy, Darkness, Terra Queen, etc. should probably ake a break for now. Again, love'em all, but seeing new characters will be more exciting.

Old franchises and houses need to be concluded too. No more Psychoscareapy, Body Collectors, All Nite Die-In, Treaks, Chainsaw Drill Team, etc. Don't bring back Midway of the Bizarre, Deadtropolis, or whatever favorites fans may have.

Looking at HHNXX, there are some interesting ideas that could develop more in future years. The most obvious new franchise would most likely be the continuing story of Z-Day from Zombiegeddon and Zombie Gras. I don't immediately recall HHN having a reaccuring zombie franchise, and it seems you could imagine some good houses or zones from seeing how Z-Day has affected various parts of the country.

I'd love to see Havoc's Dogs of War take it to the streets. Give'em a scarezone!

The New Yorkshire setting from Saws 'n Steam seems like a ripe idea too. I'm not really a fan of steampunk, but making a house out of that theme could be cool.

Legendary Truth could be a neat franchise too. Not saying there will be constant haunted houses, but maybe the houses can take place in different investigations exploring bizarre phenomenon (UFOs, cryptozoology, etc.) Very X-Files like.

new icon hhn 21

I think if we get any nod towards our new icon it will be next Thursday at the VIP Lounge presentations on Icons. I don't think Fear is returning since he was mainly the tie-in for this year.

Albeit, speculation I COULD at some point see HHN using the Body Collectors as the icons but I don't think it will happen any time soon since next year I'm assuming they are still in large going for the whole "No movie houses, few (if any) sequels" approach. Since it was kinda stated that they wanted to go that route for a while.

I'd love to see these houses/scarezones from recent years get some sort of sequel (and yes I know, most of these are long shots.) Hint hint.
-Scream House (If PS gets part 4 than so should Scream House)
-Hellgate Prison
-Frightyard
-Midway of the Bizarre as a house. I can't be the only one who wants to see this.
-Deadtropolis. Street or house.
-Demon Cantina
-Terra Mines
-Nightmare on Elm Street (Still to this day one of the best houses I've been through and one of the few IP's I'd like to see return.)
-Asylum in Wonderland house (It's been done at a lot of other haunts...I know)
-Creatures
-Interstellar Terror
-Dead Exposure
-Frankenstein
-Dracula
-P.S. on the streets.
-Lights, Camera in some capacity.
-War of the Living Dead in some capacity.
-Catacombs in a soundstage
-ZGed, in the street perhaps

Halloween horror nights 21 2011 info old hard rock bulding may become haunted house

There is an interesting rumor found here, claiming that Universal could be eyeballing the old original Hard Rock Café building behind the Woody Woodpecker Nuthouse Coaster as a site for a new haunt for HHN 2011. They even go so far as to suggest that it could be transformed a year-round haunt of some kind, possibly similar in concept to the one they have at the Hollywood park.
However there are some possible errors to this blog report. It claims that the building was borded up and abandoned for a number of years, and also mentions it being used for storage.  Years ago, I quizzed a number of Universal employees about this very building myself between 2000-2005 and was always told that it had been put to use for both storage and office space. I don’t think I ever found out which department had claimed it for office-space, but this kind of goes against the idea of using it as a haunt if true.
That’s one of the interesting facts about many theme parks… in general no good available space is wasted. Eventually almost any good indoor dry place will be claimed and put to use as an office, storage space or even just as a broom closet, so I find it hard to believe the old Hard Rock was ever left empty for any period of time. That’s prime real estate for any department. The latest word from one source is that the items being stored inside the building may have been moved out to an outside warehouse a few weeks ago, freeing up the building for a possible new role in the future. Any insiders have some input on this story?

just got a servery from universail

Just got a servery from universal Orlando saying that the hhn 21 tickets FFP are going to be 89.99 i say that is way to high and may not go this year. I say they should lower the price and get volume that equals profit but it could be a good thing then we don't have that much drunks around when going into the mazes. All i know they must do better than last year i enjoyed my time but still shocking it was not what i wanted to see.
